Great team performance
By Stephen Griffiths
Today's squad consisted of 2 primary 7 players aged 10 and 11, a number of 1st years aged 12, and other than Scott in goal, Ian and Johnny at the back, dougie in midfield and Harry up front, the remainder of the 16 strong squad were 14 or under.
Wanderers possibly had 1 or 2 under 14 and had quite a strong experienced team.
The young boys started brightly and the ball retention and movement was very pleasing.
The deadlock was broken with a neat reverse stick strike from Connor.
The boys continued to dictate the game and limited wanderers to the occasional break.
A second goal came from a swift breakaway with a number of passes from defence to attack, it was finished with a roof of the net shot from Alfie.
Wanderers reduced the lead with a scrappy goal put in by dougie!?
The second half was again one which the young boys moved the ball from side to side and front to back, at times holding the ball for long periods of time. No further goals were added although both GKs made saves.
Another excellent performance from the young boys and special mention to Finlay Duncan (11) who made his debut and more than held his own.
