Our guys who supported the 5s
Cameron, Jake and Ross
First of all - thank you to all the players who turned up to play today. Ten players in the squad is our best effort so far and enabled us to support the 5s with players due to their squad being depleted by the U18s playing in Perth this afternoon.
Next; what a great win for the Super 6s (again!). If this had been a normal derby match and we played against a pure 5s team, I would be a really, really, really smug and annoying match reporter. However, if it wasn't for Cameron, Jake and Ross all agreeing to play for the 5s, we might not have had a match at all today. These 3 gentlemen were superb for the 5s. They denied the 6s time and time again and were key to the 5s' efforts in scoring their goals today. Hats off to the 3 of them. I am looking forward to seeing them back in our squad again next week though!
As for the boys in white, they were ace. The back four were pretty rock solid all afternoon.
Alfie in midfield was inspired, again! And up front, Murray and Nairn did all and more of what was asked of them. All round it was a fantastic performance from the 6s players in both teams. They were all really competitive - almost as competitive as their fans in the stands were...
The Honours Board
'12 - Goal for Murray. Connor beat 2 players in midfield, carried the ball to right 'D' where he found Murray perfectly placed to dink the ball over the line.
'14 - Goal for Craig. Connor found Alfie in midfield with a neat reverse pass from left back. Alfie carved through midfild past 2 opposition players then spun a pass to Craig at top 'D'. Craig eased the ball over the line... just!
'8 - Goal number two for the debutante, Murray! Alfie picked up the ball in midfield. He drove the ball to Craig at right 'D'. Craig fed Murray at left 'D' and the finish was deadly.
'10 - Goal for Alfie. Alex won the ball at right back and slipped it down the line to Alfie who was in right midfield and just inside the 6s' half. Alfie then ghosted down the right wing, beating 3 opponents, before slotting home a goal from right 'D'.
'14 - Goal for Nairn. Alfie found Murray just outside right 'D'. Murray squared it to Nairn at left 'D'. Nairn slammed home a low and powerful goal.
Awesome stuff from all our players today. Thanks for making supporting you guys easy.
Next week it is a 'Home' match against Perthshire. This will be a tough game, but as fans, we can see you guys improving week on week so you should be confident going into that match.
