As our indoor hockey season comes to a close, we would like to thank and congratulate all our club members, Youth Ambassadors, parents, coaches, managers, and everyone who supported the pitch-side café throughout the season. Your commitment and energy continue to be the backbone of our club.
Each week at Eastern, between 50 and 60 young players take part in hockey. This strong youth foundation has been central to the club's recent success, highlighted by our Men's team winning the Scottish Championships and earning the opportunity to represent Scotland in Europe next year. Impressively, several members of the squad were playing Saturday morning hockey at Eastern just three years ago.
All age-group teams from U10 to U18 have been active throughout the season, regularly competing in tournaments and festivals, with some fantastic performances:
Maia Szwejkowska (12) was named Player of the Tournament at the U14 HPC Championships, where our girls narrowly missed out on the title, losing the final by just one goal.
Our U14 boys fielded a very young squad, mainly made up of 11- and 12-year-olds, at the HPC Championships. This was their first experience at this level, and they performed extremely well.
Ben Kelly (15) was named Player of the Tournament at the U16 HPC Championships.
Our U18 boys successfully qualified for the Scottish Finals this season.
Friday night hockey has also been a great success, with strong attendance and valuable indoor match experience gained by our teenage players.
Ladies' Section
Our ladies' teams competed strongly in both the Midland and Scottish leagues. Every team is made up of a blend of current youth players, graduates returning from university hockey, and experienced senior players who actively mentor and support younger teammates during matches. The first-team ladies' squad alone includes over eight home-grown players who joined the club within the last 10 years and have progressed through to the top level.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to another successful indoor season. We look forward to building on this momentum as we move into the outdoor half of the season.
