The Indoor season for the Ladies 1s, ended with a victory against Dundee Wanderers 2s, on Tuesday night at Douglas Sports Centre. This elevated the team into 2nd place in the League behind Dundee Wanderers 1s.
This came on the back of a good weekend down in Meadowmill, Tranent where the team managed to move themselves from 7th to 5th in National League 2 with a draw against Granite City Wanderers and a win against Clydesdale Western 2. It was nail-biting stuff at one point with lots of maths being done but the team went out and did what they needed to do to stay in National League 2 for next season and played some very good hockey!
In the Midland League, played on Tuesdays, the team had some excellent wins against Strathallan, Dundee Wanderers and Monarchs. However they suffered a very frustrating loss to Perthshire and were well beaten by Dundee Wanderers 1s.
It was a frustrating season - a case of what might have been! The talent is there but availability was inconsistent throughout the season from some of our more experienced players particularly for the Sunday National League games. However despite this each week there was some good hockey played and certainly on the final Sunday with a full squad, we all got a glimpse of what might have been with some excellent hockey.
A special mention and big thank to Emily Elder and Zoe Irving who both played every game throughout the National League campaign.
Thank you too to Luke for coaching the team so consistently through the season. It wasn't an easy campaign but perseverance paid off in the end!
