Grove Menzieshill M1 start season with hard-fought 2-0 loss to Western Wildcats in Glasgow
Our M1 team got their Premiership season up and running with a trip to Glasgow to play Western Wildcats, last year’s play-off winners, at Auchenhowie.
After some resolute first half defending, the sides went into halftime at 0-0. Western went 1-0 up in Q3, with Grove Menzieshill then going on to win several penalty corners after some good counter attack play.
We couldn’t quite manage to get the ball across the line, but kept the game alive until Western made it 2-0 with the last attack of the game.
Man of the Match performance from Stevie McIlravey in goal, and thanks to Fin Donnelly for travelling with the team to help the coaches with game day team management
