Wanderers put to the sword

Our 3s dominated this game right from the start with attack after attack in the first quarter. However, a failure to convert this dominance into goals came back to bite them in the 15th minute when Wanderers scored with their first attack of the game. Brendan tried manfully to scoop out the shot but it crept agonisingly over the line.

In the second quarter, Hill kept pushing for the equaliser and it duly arrived in the 25th minute. A short corner was played to OLLIE HAZELL and he fired into the net: 1-1.
There followed sustained pressure from Hill but no more goals were forthcoming before half time. Right at the end of the quarter, Kyle Moir forced a great save from the Wanderers keeper but the scored remained 1-1.

Hill kept on the front foot at the start of Q3. Great wing play on the right from Owen Hutchinson led to Kyle Moir shooting just wide. Towards the end of the quarter, the Wanderers keeper performed heroics to keep the score level, saving three shots one after the other. A sustained period of pressure led to two short corners but the away goalie was equal to everything thrown at him, with one save in particular deserving special mention as he tipped a shot bound for the top corner over the bar.

However there was nothing he could do in the 50th minute when RICHIE BAIN converted from a short corner. There were muted celebrations as the umpires conferred however the goal stood: 2-1 Hill.

The home team continued to press, looking to put the game out of reach of Wanderers. The effort was typified in the 64th minute by a lung-bursting run from Sol Fraser up the left wing. Sol then played a great pass to Matthew Ogg but the Wanderers defence snuffed out the threat.

Hill were not to be denied however. Another fine run from Owen up the right ended with a perfect pass to Richie who was unable to control. However the ball fell nicely to MATTHEW OGG who stroked a sweet shot beyond the keeper to make it 3-1 to Hill.
