A fine day for club hockey. The score line is irrelevant. The quality of performances is.
Both teams worked hard for little return in the first quarter. Chris Wilson nudged the 2s ahead at half time with a well taken goal from open play.
Some strong words from Coach Bonnar at half time brought the 2s to life and a volley of goals in the third quarter took the game away from the 3rds. Archie Macdonald, Murdo Kiddie (with a rapid fire hat trick) and Wilson all on the score sheet. If that feeling and desire could be bottled from the 2nds in that quarter we would have a decent potion on our hands.
Strong commendation to the 3rds too. A club debut for Lewis Simpson drew favourable comments, plenty of gas in the tank and getting stuck straight in. Richie Bain, Owen Hutchison and Ollie Cooper all showed they have developed strongly this season. Owen could have had a goal but for a well timed intervention from a solid Finlay Ross slide.
Wilson completed his hat trick in the final quarter, like a fine wine -improving with age.
