A Good Win

The team showed great maturity in their performance today, up against a team who they lost heavily to earlier in the season, they were determined to make amends.

The match started well with some controlled build up play, the defence happily transferring the ball against a team sitting at half court until a space opened up down the left-hand side, Fiona starting of the move with a penetrating pass, followed by some great two touch hockey until the ball landed with Hannah who calmly finished from close range.

A second goal followed shortly after, a quick restart form a sideline ball, Ailsa making space for herself in the D before unleashing a fierce shot.
The team continued to be patient, spraying the ball around, waiting for an opening Goal number 3 came shortly before half time, Sophia driving forward at pace taking an early shot form the top of the D, her space was closed down by the defence and her shot deflected high, past the keeper into the roof of the net.

The message at half time was more of the same, remain patient and say focused.

The opposition started to push forward, in search for a goal, but we were able to cope with the changed and see out the 3rd quarter.
Goal 4 was outstanding, Erin, breaking down the left before cutting inside and playing the most perfect flat ball into the D for the oncoming Ailsa to deflect first time into the goal.
Goal 5 wasn't far behind and the roles were reversed this time Ailsa breaking down the right, along the baseline line before crossing the ball, for Erin to score.
Credit to all of the players for having to adapt throughout the game, they produced a very mature performance.
It was a very fitting send off for Alex.
