As a team manager, have given this match report some thought. It was always going to be a difficult afternoon against Wanderers. Local derbies are always tough and after defeating them at the end of last season, they were never going to be easy to play at home.

The match was not helped by fact that our midfield was deccimated by injury and illness so it was an unfamiliar line up in the centre. But this team are nothing if not adaptable.

Wanderers caught the team on the hop from the get go though and before GMHC knew it, they were down 2-0 - a PC and an open goal. But heads did not drop and the team had a couple of PC themselves but could not convert. Unfortunately this was the tale of the game. The team absolutely knuckled down and did not let in a goal for the next two quarters. In fact they were the better team with some fantastic runs from Erin L. But our failure to get the ball into the back of the net is becoming a bit of a habit and something that needs sorted. The opportunities were there and although the Wanderers defence was fierce, there were definitely openings on the back post as well as just taking the chances faster rather than trying to be too cute. PC's were won too but again just not able to get that killer touch with some near misses.

Whilst the team started the 4th quarter brightly enough, they were tired and with players in unfamiliar positions, Dundee Wanderers did exert significant pressure at times. The defence was not clearing the ball effectively enough - just being able to put a big hit in to get the ball to the other end of the pitch would have helped or indeed just looking up to ensure that not passing straight back to a Wanderers player! And at times players were trying to do too much with the ball rather than doing the simple things well or indeed getting the ball out so at least they could re-group. This was where more experience in the team would have helped. Wanderers were able to capitalise and got another goal from an unforced error. It happens but it was frustrating as the team had really held up well after the first 10 minutes.

Whilst it is a team game and everybody played their part, it would be remiss of this report not to highlight some players - Hannah as always worked tirelessly in the front winning some great balls, Lily had a good game in the centre and got some lovely breaks as well as defending well. This was only her 2nd Derby game at 1s level & she did very well. Erin is so fast and showed some great skills getting the ball up the pitch. Charlotte made some great saves and Martha was immense in the back under some significant pressure. This was her last derby game outdoors for the Club and as always left nothing out there.

And finally whilst it is no compensation, the umpires spoke to the captain at the end of the match to thank the team for respecting the umpiring on the day.
