This was our first match in the Midland League and, as expected, it was a tough match against Kinross. Our last match against them was when we were beaten in the Midland Cup Final in May so the team were up for putting in a strong performance. It was end to end in the first quarter, both teams creating chances. They pressed us hard at the back and this resulted in them going a goal ahead. There was a real determination to get back into the game and it paid off when Maia received the ball and fed a through ball to Phoebe who made no mistake of driving into the D and hitting the ball hard into the left hard corner to make it 1 - 1. The momentum then swung in our favour. Lottie and Katie were dynamic down the right-hand side. Katie received the ball from Lottie and drove towards the D. Then 3 quickly taken free hits from Emma and Pat found Katie again and her skilful stick work in the D drew a bad tackle, resulting in a penalty stroke. Maia stepped forward and put the ball high past the GK. Delighted to be 2 - 1 up at half time. We were under a lot of pressure in the 2nd half and defensively we looked strong. The work rate from the midfield and forwards to chase back and support our solid defenders was excellent. Kinross won a corner in the 3rd quarter and Zoe made the initial save but they were first on to the rebound to make it 2 - 2. In the final quarter, Zoe made a great save from a PC and we won our first PC which resulted in a good save from their GK. Lots of positives to take from the match and also areas that we can definitely improve on.
