Another Winning Wednesday For Ladies' 3s

For the final match of the season Grove Menzieshill Ladies 3's hosted Kinross Hockey Club Ladies 2's in a midweek fixture at Dawson Park.

Firstly, a big thanks has to go out to Kinross for their hard work and effort in pulling a team together to allow this match to be played.

The match kicked off with the GMHC Ladies on the attack and Kinross finding themselves on the back foot, with only 8 minutes of the game played Jade Doig took advantage of this pushing play by sending the ball to the back of the Kinross goal. The opposition were not deterred and subsequently found the correct gear pushing back against Grove Menzieshill's plays, this paid off when they managed to sneak one past Charlotte Rome in goal to bring the scoreline back to an even standing in the 14th minute.

The start of 2nd quarter didn't go GMHC's way with Kinross now on the offensive and hunting down another goal to add to the first and they found it 10 minutes in bringing the score to 2 - 1 down. This was to be short lived though, Lily Bonnar managed to drive to ball home on the reverse to bring the score back up to 2-2 as the whistle blew for half time.

In the 3rd quarter both teams had chances on goal and the fight was on with neither team wanting to go home without the win. Some great passing around the midfield and a drive up into the Kinross 'D' near the end of the 3rd meant the ball found its way to Farrah McCulloch who scored to bring the score to 3-2 Grove Menzieshill.

The 4th quarter was a roller coaster of emotions for everyone watching as attack after attack came from Kinross, who were desperate to deny GMHC the win. The game full of ups and downs came to a climax as a short corner was given in the 70th minute after a foot in the GMHC's 'D' giving Kinross one last chance at taking home a point. With the full Kinross team loaded up on the attack it was a nail biter as the whistle blew to play the short, after a frantic tussle Grove managed to send the ball out to the left to win the game.

With some familiar faces coming back to the game and new players coming through from youth development, this season has allowed the Ladies to gel and begin to reap the benefits work as a team. This wouldn't have been achieved if it wasn't for the hard work of the ladies 3's coach Katie Joss to whom we are eternally grateful for the time she has invested in the team.

A huge thanks goes out to Shaun Craig and David Rose for umpiring the match for us. And a massive thanks to the players themselves, as without them, we wouldn't have a team.
