The Ladies 3's team were due to play Kinross ladies 2's this weekend however the away team had to cancel at the last minute due to low player numbers, after some quick emails we were able to rearrange our game with Monarch HC Ladies 1's that was originally due to be played back in October 2022.
With the weather on our side, if not a little chilly, (it always is at Dawson!!), the Ladies took to the field against an established team. The match started fast paced with Grove fighting back against the Monarchs advances well and slowing down their attacking line. Unfortunately, Monarchs managed to make a break and put one in the back of the net after 9 minutes.
Grove managed to hold their ground through the rest of the next 2 quarters denying Monarchs the whitewash they clearly expected! With no less than 5 short corners in the 3rd quarter alone.
Thanks to the quick reactions and swift thinking from the Grove defence, Monarchs failed to convert any of these chances. One was an extremely close call, but defender Lil Chapman stopped the top D hit dead on the line.
Monarchs were becoming visibly frustrated with Groves strong gameplay, there was good communication between the team, and this showed as Monarchs had to work hard for each advance they made.
The final quarter saw a further 2 goals making the final score a 0-3 win for Monarchs.
Overall, great play from Grove and a visibly cohesive team this match, the score doesn't do the team justice as they played really well.
