Men's 3s in seventh heaven

Arriving at the St Leonard's pitch with freezing haar rolling in from the water, the team was eager to get playing. The previous fixture against Madras resulted in a narrow victory for 'Hill by the odd goal in five, so there was a keenness to do the double on the St Andrews opposition.

Hill started on the front foot and had a good chance to go ahead in the 7th minute, then a shot by Oliver Holden was denied at 9 minutes. Just a minute later, a short corner was awarded, Scott Fraser injected to Shaan Afzal, the attempt ultimately cleared by the Madras defence. A combination of Edward Cooper and Oliver Cooper brought the play back into the 'D' and close to scoring.

Madras countered with an attack on the Hill goal, quickly turned around with SCOTT FRASER scoring Hill's first goal at 12 minutes. Hill maintained pressure on Madras and at 15 minutes MATTHEW OGG found the top of the net with a fabulous reverse stick.
Soon after this, another short corner, Oliver Cooper injected to Shaan Afzal enabling SHAUN CRAIG to make the score 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Second quarter started with some good overhead play from Oliver Cooper covering plenty of ground in the midfield, and passing to Liam Stuart in attack. At 22 minutes SHAUN CRAIG scored again to make it 4-0, swiftly followed by an attempt on goal from Captain Kenny Watson following a cross from Brian McGarrity.
After a short corner was awarded and after 3 resets, the move from Scott Fraser to Shaan Afzal to SHAUN CRAIG made it 5-0 and completed Shaun's hat trick.
SCOTT FRASER added his second of the match at 32 minutes assisted by Oliver Cooper to make the half-time score 6-0 to Hill.

The third quarter saw some pressure from Madras, Xander Swan clearing all attempts on the Hill goal. Renewed focus in the fourth quarter saw Kenny Watson hit the bar of the Madras goal following a short corner. 56 minutes in, Brian McGarrity crossed into the D, OLIVER COOPER scoring.

In the final moments of the match Madras were awarded a short corner, successfully scoring their only goal. Xander cursed his luck at not keeping a clean sheet.

Next week the team is expecting stiffer competition from Wanderers back at Dawson Park.
