3-2 Victory for Grove Mens 2nd XI

Jack Sandilands and Oliver Cooper made their 2nd XI debuts against a strong Uni team. Both performed well in unfamiliar circumstances. Well done lads.

The students only had 10 men for the whole of the match and set their stall out to defend and counter from their own half. This led to space at the back but some errors in possession under pressure gifted the students an early lead.

Murdo Kiddie brought Grove level with a tap in finish from a move down the left at the end of the first quarter. The students again moved into the lead from a Grove error.

A shift in formation led to more control in midfield. With this there were more entries into the opposition D and subsequent scores from Chris Wilson (finishing off a goal created by Alfie Bonnar) and finally Alistair Clark pushed the hosts ahead for the first time.

The game should have been closed out more confidently but a couple of concentration lapses led to some student pressure. The final whistle brought relief to anxious spectators.

Probably not one our best performances this year but some good moments to remember.
