A nail biting finish ending with a well deserved win for the 3s.
A cold, windy game at Dawson Park saw Grove start strongly having much of the possession in the first and second quarters. Following a number of well worked attacks, Grove were awarded a short corner. Pat’s straight strike landed in the right hand corner, giving Grove a 1-0 lead going into half time.
St Andrew’s picked up in the second half, leading to strong defensive work from Grove, and key saves from Zoe. With St Andrews using high strikers Grove utilised the spaces this created to work up both sides and put the St Andrews defenders under pressure. These runs led to chances for Grove and forced saves from the St Andrews’ goalie.
St Andrews made a driving attack in the final minutes which led to a defensive short corner just before the full time whistle. Zoe made a great first save, followed by an on the line save by Lil; allowing the rest of the team to get back and clear the ball and welcome the full time whistle.
Overall a well played match from Grove, holding out until the final whistle to get the win.
